Opportunity Age

Full of Life

Full of life

People are living longer. By 2020, half the population of the UK will be aged 50 and over. This brings fundamental changes to the nature of society and the Government wants to ensure we adapt successfully to these changes.

This is a long-term challenge which will need the support of everyone.

Under the Full of Life banner, the Government and other supporting groups are undertaking a wide programme of activity to raise the profile of the issues surrounding older people and our ageing society. UK Older People’s Day will be a key focus for 2008.

UK Older People’s Day 2008

UK Older People’s Day will take place on 1 October 2008. The main aims for the day are to:

Get involved

Celebrating UK Older People’s Day will be a great opportunity to bring your community together and build new relationships with people of all ages. There will be events across the country and we encourage you to get involved.

To help get you started, we have developed the Full of ideas toolkit which includes a selection of ‘ready made’ event ideas, based on this year’s theme of bringing generations together to promote greater understanding and respect. There are also a host of additional resources to help you celebrate the lives of older people and reach across the generations to encourage young and old to live and learn together.

These will help you to plan your event from start to finish!

Use the Full of Life visual identity

Part One of the Full of Life visual identity is available online. This introduces you to the new identity so that you can begin to use Full of Life in your own communications.

We encourage you to use this visual identity as part of your own communications in the coming months.
